Crossfield Excalibur Ltd

Merlin Range of Rotational Moulding Machines

Crossfield Excalibur has over 30 years experience in the design and manufacture of Rock and Roll machinery.

The Merlin range of open flame rock and roll machines are ideally suited to the production of both horizontal and vertical storage tanks and containers from 200 to 10,000 litre capacity.

The three standard machines that we currently offer are as follows:-

Machine
Capacity
Merlin 3000
Containers from 200 to 3000 litres capacity
Merlin 6000
Tanks from 500 to 6000 litres capacity
Merlin 8000
Tanks from 500 to 8000 litres capacity

These machines, however, are not limited to the manufacture of storage tanks, and are currently producing a wide range of products, for example, components for the automotive industry, road furniture, agricultural and marine products, water sports accessories and leisure goods at sites all over the world.

The machines are of the popular open flame rock and roll variety, and are fully P.L.C. controlled operating on either natural or L.P.G. gases (Propane, Butane etc). The machines are also manufactured to be compatible with customers’ on-site facilities.

What’s more, the cycle times are significantly reduced by direct application of heat to the mould surface and each burner can be set independently, ensuring complete control of the product wall thickness.

Each machine is designed around your specific moulding requirements. Simply supply us with drawings of your products and we will design a custom-made machine for you.

The cooling cycle is also significantly reduced by the use of cooling fans.
The Merlin 3000 comes with 2 cooling fans and the Merlin 6000 and 8000 come with 4 cooling fans

All aspects of the moulding cycle are controlled by P.L.C. with a manual override facility for tool changing and demoulding the product.

All our machines are assembled and tested in our workshops prior to despatch.
The Merlin range of moulding machinery is manufactured in accordance with the CE mark directives.

Customers are invited to view the machine in operation (at their own expense).

The machines do not require any fume extract system, the burners are of the neat gas variety and providing that there is adequate ventilation for normal working practices no noxious fumes are omitted.

Similarly, no special foundation is required, provided that there is a minimum of 150cm solid floor for machine securing bolts. The machines are supplied in 3 to 5 main sections (depending on machine size), and on-site assembly is a reasonably simple process with no specialist skills required. The assembly time is approximately 8 hours, and each machine can be accommodated in a 20 ft container for transport.

Basic training is given on the operating of the machinery.

A fully detailed manual is supplied to guide you through the operating and maintenance requirements for the machinery.

A Telephone advisory service is available Monday to Friday 9am till 5pm, except for public holidays.
